We are delighted to feature the three shortlisted entries from the BAFTSS Practice Research Awards (published February 2016). Reflecting the growing “performative” tendency of film and moving image research taking place in/through/around practice-based outputs, BAFTSS invited submissions in the following areas:

Audiovisual Practice-Research: e.g. Film/TV/video/screen-writing/moving image practice
Videographic film and moving image studies: e.g. online digital video essays / scholarly remixes
Research Applications and Infrastructure: e.g. film and television studies research-related mobile applications, online databases and archives.

The winning films were announced at the BAFTSS Annual Conference, 14 April 2016. The winner was Joanna Callaghan's Love in the Post: From Plato to Derrida, the runner up was Pratap Rughani's Justine and an honourable mention went to Philip Cowan's The Use of Color as a Function of the Cinematographer in The Sleeping-Mat Ballad.

The work was judged by a panel of peer experts using the criteria outlined in the research statement.

Each volume of Screenworks is published on a rolling basis in addition to calls for special issues.
