Special Issues
If you are interested in proposing a special issue of Screenworks then please contact the editorial team in the first instance. We may then invite you to prepare a full proposal, which should include:
An outline, rationale and explanation as to why Screenworks is an appropriate place to publish the collection.
CVs of guest editors.
A draft call for submissions (using this template) and/or a list of potential contributors.
Potential partners (e.g. a conference, journal, special interest group, network).
The editorial team will exercise its judgement to invite amendments or reject any unsuitable proposals. If accepted, guest editors should be aware that a proposal’s acceptance does not mean that final submissions will be published, as all submissions undergo peer review and editorial scrutiny. The editorial workflow is follows:
Finalise and distribute the call for submissions.
Undertake an initial review of all submitted articles, liaising with the editorial team if they have any doubts.
If they are ready, each article is sent to external peer review with two anonymous peer reviewers.
If there are doubts, one of the Screenworks editorial team will scrutinise and if needed further peer review will be obtained.
The editor in chief’s decision regarding individual contributions or the entire special issue is final.
